The MET Gala 2019 is over. We’ve seen a lot of celebrities who rocked the red carpet during the year’s biggest night for fashion. Trending at the top spot on Twitter, many people talked about the glam, the drama even the little things inside the Gala. This year’s theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, from Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp’”. It was a theme focused on the exaggeration, self-expression and the authenticity of oneself. These celebs went all out with their outfits that even after the MET, people are still talking about them. Here are some celebs who shook the internet after the Gala Night:
- The Queen of Camp: Lady Gaga
Even before Met Gala 2019, Lady Gaga has been on this theme since the beginning of her career (see Paparazzi music video for reference). In that note, one must be challenged to level up, but the Queen just elevated to a new level: FOUR OUTFITS. FOUR OUTFITS IN ONE WALK! And those lashes, we can see them four miles from her! She slayed so much that even people on the Internet (or Netizens as they say) has their own take on the queen’s moment.
- Jared Leto made HEADlines with his outfit.
Jared took the quote “two heads are better than one” literally! The actor came in with a replica of his head, paired with his Gucci outfit; a “head” turner for everyone who attended the night. Posts about Jared’s head-turning moment surfaced minutes after his walk.
- Katy Lumiere-y
From American Idol to the Met Gala, Katy’s fascination of Disney Characters is an obvious show. Katy came in, bringing light to everyone present in the event. A little homage to Sia’s hit song in 2014, tweets came in saying how much they were amazed of Katy’s “lit” red carpet walk.
- Meet the your Barbie Girl, Kacey Musgraves
She’s a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world. Kacey came in living a life of plastic. Wearing a Moschino outfit, with the blonde wig, it looks like a live-action Barbie film is on the works. Did we also mention that she came in a pink convertible? Yeah, Kacey was an EXTRA Barbie Girl during the Gala Night, and people started picking up the real-life doll.
- My Heart Can’t Go On with Celine Dion
Celine is on her 50’s now, but her ability to slay is TIMELESS! The diva came in with an outfit from Oscar de la Renta, and according to the design house, it took over 3,000 hours for 52 master embroiders to bead up Dion’s dress. Completing the dress is her spiky headpiece which reminds us who she is, a queen.
- Cardi B’s Red Ocean-like Dress
Okuuurr! We see you Cardi B. Bringing her own Red Sea, Cardi was also the talk-of-the-town in the event. The entirety of her dress, from the headpiece to her Thom Browne gown, cements her as one of the fashion icons of this generation. Not just her fans but everybody online has their own take about Cardi’s red carpet outfit.
- Eye See You Ezra Miller
Lastly, everyone dropped their jaws as Ezra Miller unveiled his face underneath the mask he is also wearing. Ezra came in with not just two, but SEVEN eyes! Outrageous and show-stopping, that is how we describe it! The reveal caught everyone’s attention and shared their sentiments online.
